Why Neo Flora? Why Do It?
So, why go through all the stress of designing and building a show garden? Why create Neo Flora? Why spend countless hours surrounded by soil, neon lights, and an ever-growing collection of houseplants?
Because it’s fun—and because it matters.
Plants Make Life Better
Neo Flora is all about proving that houseplants aren’t just pretty décor. They change the way we feel, the way we experience our spaces, and even the way we connect with nature. With so many people, especially young people, living in cities, gardens aren’t always an option. But houseplants? Houseplants can go anywhere.
Even in a messy, neon-lit, slightly chaotic bedroom, they bring a sense of calm and life. They soften the edges of urban living and remind us that nature doesn’t have to be a distant thing - it can be right there, on your bookshelf, under your bed, or even growing out of your wardrobe (on purpose, of course).
It’s More Than Just Aesthetic
Sure, the grungy cyberpunk aesthetic of Neo Flora looks cool (who doesn’t love some moody lighting and dramatic ferns?), but it’s about more than that. Mental health is a huge issue, especially for teenagers and young adults, and plants have been proven to help. They can reduce stress, boost mood, and can feel rewarding. Yet, so many young people don’t have access to green spaces.
Neo Flora is here to say: You don’t need a garden to grow plants. You don’t need a perfect space. You just need to give it a go.
Inspiration Over Perfection
One of the biggest myths about houseplants is that they require perfection - perfect lighting, perfect watering, perfect care. But let’s be real, plants are way more forgiving than that. They’ll put up with a bit of neglect, they’ll adjust to weird corners of your room, and even if you do kill a few (RIP to all the overwatered succulents), that’s part of the learning process.
Neo Flora isn’t about making plant care intimidating, it’s about making it accessible. It’s a reminder that anyone can be a plant person, even if you’ve never kept one alive before.
So, Why Do It?
Because plants belong everywhere. Because mental health matters. Because city life can be overwhelming, and greenery makes it better.
And honestly? Because it’s just really cool seeing a wardrobe turned into a hydroponic propagation station.
