In the beginning
It all began when I used my father's left-over cement and poured it into a small silicone mould. These mini pots were the perfect size for my succulent propagation, and I had wanted to find a nice way of displaying them while they rooted.
All it took was for a few people asking for these pots themselves, before I started listing them on Etsy.
As the demand for larger pots grew, I began making my own moulds, experimenting with different mixtures and materials. Remaining mixture from my larger pots went into the moulds for my minis and the bases of the propagation stations, ensuring no mixture was wasted.
The process
Creating plant pots is not as simple as you may think. 3D printed forms have to be designed and made, before being filled with a silicone mixture that eventually becomes the pot mould.
There are many materials to choose from when creating plant pots using this method, with Jesmonite being the best and most practical choice for planters that are frequently exposed to moisture.
